Artist Will Dailey
Title Back Flipping Forward
Label CBS Records

Local Boston favorite and winner of the 2006 Boston Music Award for Best Male Singer Songwriter, Will Dailey proves he knows how to put together an album with his latest release Back Flipping Forward. With ten tracks Dailey gets the job done and just right. His mellow, easy going style is the kind of sound that would most likely thrive on college radio. He meshes soft acoustic rock with a little pop and a dash of the blues on this personal and at times very relatable album.

Boom Boom is a quirky opener that grows on you right away and Hollywood Hills has a catchy infectious pop that is sure to woo a listener. Some songs, such as Rise and Yesterday’s Gone, sound like they could be playing in the background of TV dramas. Apparently some of his work has already been featured on shows such as CSI Miami, Jericho and What About Brian.

Dailey successfully combines intimate tracks, like Eliza with catchy yet still personal ones such as Bi Polar Baby, with grace. In a way, his sound reminds me of John Mayer (although I must say I’d take Dailey over Mayer any day since I’m not a big JM fan). Bottom Line: I’m not overly impressed but not excessively dissatisfied either. This album isn’t exactly something you’ve never heard before and nothing really that new to ogle over. However, it’s clear the guy’s got skills. Check Back Flipping Forward out and take it for a test drive. Also, be sure to check out some live videos posted on his website where you can find his pretty cool acoustic rendition of the Tears For Fears hit Everybody Wants to Rule the World.
