The Gallows is a band that came about due to its members being sick and tired of all the mass produced junk you see on MTV- a stand against trendy music for the popular culture. Boldly opinionated and extremely aggressive- Frank Carter’s fighting energy is a remedy to anything resembling the tired cookie-cutter bands seen day in and day out. The band features Frank’s brother Steph (guitars), Laurent Barnard (guitars), Stuart Gili-Ross (bass), and Lee Barratt (drums).
After destroying the UK scene- the band’s 2006 debut Orchestra of Wolves received a U.S. re-release on Epitaph in July, perfectly timed with the band’s summer long warped tour.
On one of my personal favorites, Abandon Ship, Carter screams: Mayday Mayday/The Captain Lost Control Again/The fucking ship is breaking up/We’re going down in flames again/Mayday Mayday/Man Overboard/The Sharks already circling/They only eat the brave... that should give you just a taste of this old school sounding punk band in its raw and completely volatile form.
The release covers a wide variety of subject matter.Carter states in a previous interview, “People always pick up on the doom and gloom on our record, but really, it’s a snapshot of everything that was happening to us at the same time, good and bad. We’ve even got songs on there about going to the dentist.” The music is both ordinary and thoughtful- reflecting The Gallows perceptions of the world.
The only way to listen to Orchestra of Wolves is loud. The Gallows... CHECK THEM OUT!
