Artist: Mayday Parade
Title: A Lesson in Romantics
Label: Fearless Records

A dramatic opening for the Tallahassee, Florida band with their hit song Black Cat leading the way for upcoming tracks:

"Close up camera one, the hero sings in this scene/The boy that gets the girl gets to go home where they get married/But stop the tape, the sunset still looks fake to me/The hero looks like he can’t breathe, the damsal just left everything/You’re like a black cat with a black pack full of fireworks and your’re gunna burn the city down right now."

A theatrical, lyrically creative, and fun little catchy tune to swing to.

Mayday parade’s A Lesson in Romantics is a jumpstart to your heart and leaves you racing with energy and ready to go. But unfortunately, the downside is that they happen to sound like most other bands in their pop-punk genre... in particular: Panic at the Dicsco and Scenes from a Movie. Alike in some ways, but I really enjoy the album.

A Lesson in Romantics is their first full length album and was released on July 10, 2007 on Fearless Records. The band formed in the winter of 2005 when two local Tallahassee bands Defining Moment and Kid Named Chicago merged together. Their first album, produced by Lee Dyess, was titled Tales Told by Dead Friends. In the Fall of 2006 when the “dream had finally come true” according to Brooks. “It was like reaching the final step at the top of a very long set of stairs. And fearless believed in us and admired what we had accomplished on our own.” Thus A Lesson in Romantics was born… so go ahead and pick yourself up a copy - Champagne is for celebrating!
