Faith No More 9 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 0
So, is it me or does Faith No More take the cake for greatest alt-rock band of the 90's to fall through the cracks or what? Mike Patton, lead singer, was and is a little crazy, though rather smart, and their sound fluctuated wildly... but, come on. They're awesome and it's obvious I'm on a minor Faith No More kick if you can't tell.

Greatest 90's band to fall through the cracks. Should be up there rocking like Pearl Jam still is, albeit, less grungy. These guys were precursors for so many trends. Just listen and chronologically adjust your mindset.

P.S. Simply Red possibly one of the greatest bands to slip through the crack in the 80's? Maybe, let me know, damnit. I have queries in search of answers!!!

I can't really comment on Faith No More.. Don't know where I was during the 90's, but most of the popular music got past me somehow...

Simply Red... amazingly talented, but relegated pretty much to the one-hit-wonder bin (even though there was more than one big hit.. go figure).

Simply Red is still kicking though, releasing music via website rather than major label.. We did a review within the last six months, here:

I love Faith No More! Angel Dust has got to be one of the strangest, most creative albums to come out of the 90s.

That's right. I remember checkin' that review out. Man does he have red hair, simply. "Money's Too Tight To Mention" equals awesome. Their faster, dancier stuff was what I liked. Forget "Holding Back the Years"; I mean, it was good too. But, c'mon, this guys brogue(I think that's how it's spelled) is so cool when he's jumping about vocally. I picture a leprechaun popstar.

Hey Watchman (Fastnoid),

If you liked Angel Dust and the more whacked out side of Faith No More, do yourself a favor and check out FNM's frontman Mike Patton's, one side project Mr. Bungle(specifically the album California). It's FNM meets the Beach Boys.

Hell, check out his other side projects, as well. The guy is everywhere. He's in Tomahawk, General Patton and the X-Ecutioners, Fantanamas, and Handsome Boy Modeling School songs to name a few. He messes around with Dillinger Escape Plan sometimes too.

Have fun finding that stuff.

Faith No More...what a blast from the past. I was really young in the 90s, so as I go back and listen to 90s music, I am just now putting band names with songs. But they are really good. The 90s is one of the most underrated eras of music, and that's mainly because there were so many genres out that it's hard to put a stamp on the decade as far as music goes (for example, the 80s had hair bands; the 50s had crooners, etc).

Faith No More is a band that I really need to look more up on...
