Bob Dylan is the most important musician of all time. He influenced everyone, including the Beatles, and everyone the Beatles influenced. He's a man of many faces, a man of mystery. He took narrative, topical songwriting to a whole new level by changing the way everyone looked at lyrics, song structure and meaning.

He practically took everything everyone new about popular music before him and turned it on its head.

Essential Bob Dylan albums include:

Freewheelin' Bob Dylan
The Times Are A-Changin'
Bringing It All Back Home
Highway 61 Revisited
Blonde On Blonde
New Morning
Planet Waves
Blood On The Tracks
The _base_ment Tapes
Desire
Infidels
Love And Theft
Modern Times

And Every Volume of the Bootleg Series 1 - 7

I agree with you wholeheartedly...Bob Dylan is a legend. He has influenced so many people, and that will never be forgotten. While I respect Dylan, I mainly respect him as a legend, however, and I think that sometimes his music is lost behind all of that influencing stuff. You're right, though, his music is great.

I agree, he is a total legend and really opened up the folk world. When I first listened to him, I couldn't stand his voice, but his writing, is AMAZING!
