Reviews Artist: Richard HawleyTitle: Lady's Bridge Label: Mute Records Richard Hawley is a lost soul from a bygone era. His brand of rock brings to mind so many performers of years past that it is near impossible not to be drawn in by it. The touring guitarist for Pulp released his first masterpiece, Cole’s Corner, in 2005. His new release, Lady’s Bridge picks up right where that one left off. This is perfect pop if I’ve ever heard it. The grandiosity and musicianship of the first single, Tonight the Streets are Ours, is unparalleled genius. The vocals are delivered effortlessly as Hawley channels the showtunes of the Rat Pack, the Vegas spectacle of Elvis and the crooning vocals of Morrissey. Every track is an effortless masterpiece. If I had one criticism it would be that maybe Hawley needs to start shopping for a new record label -- or at least someone with the willingness and know-how to promote him and his music. I guarantee you almost no one knows who Richard Hawley is. Everyone should know just how good this guy is! I recommend listening to Lady's Bridge all the way through because it’s all good. Some of the best tracks are the rockabilly tinged Serious, the galloping guitar and orchestration of I’m Looking for Someone to Find Me, the slow buildup to the overpowering crescendo on Valentine, and the leisurely stroll of the title track. Lady's Bridge along with Richard Hawley’s previous solo work comes highly recommend. This stuff is just too good to pass up! User reviews There are no user reviews for this item.
