In their first full length effort, So Wrong, It’s Right shows Baltimore based pop/punkers, All Time Low have experience well beyond their years. As you listen to the record, you may find yourself having déjà vu. All Time Low is certainly talented, but you will find each song channels early numbers of Blink-182, Green Day, or even more recently Fall Out Boy and Cartel. Yes, the songs have been done before, but this record is saved on its guitar-laden bridges and upbeat tempos. The lyrics and melodies will be stuck in your head faster than you can press fast forward. All Time Low may be arriving on the scene years late. Just when you expected pop/punk music to return to the underground, So Wrong, It’s Right shows you there are still infectiously catchy songs worthy of pop radio airplay. All Time Low may not be the next big thing and they may never escape their internet-based following, but they certainly have an album to be proud of. Lead singer, Alex Gaskarth may not be the best singer to come along, but his writing abilities certainly surpass many of All Time Low’s competition. Straight out of high school, All Time Low worked with renowned producer, Matt Squire. Holed up in Squire’s Maryland home, All Time Low penned songs about experiences regular people can only dream up. From the upbeat “Vegas” and “Shameless” to more acoustically driven songs such as “Remembering Sunday”, All Time Low is desperately trying to convince people they have staying power. Even if you think All Time Low is just another band to add to the pop/punk genre, you can’t deny So Wrong, It’s Right is a prevailing first try from All Time Low. |
