Artist: Alice Cooper
Title: Prime Cuts - The Alice Cooper Story
Label: Sanctuary Records
Disc one is pretty much what you would expect from the story of a band. There are live cuts from concerts over the years, along with a narration by Alice Cooper and the original band members before he went solo. Between songs (many of them not the full song) the story is told, starting with how they were signed to Frank Zappa's label and how the "Alice" persona was created. Vincent Fournier is the man and he refers to Alice Cooper in the third person. He explains how the persona is for the stage and stays there (although the numerous charity events he participates in every year in his home town of Phoenix, AZ the name factor is what makes the news . . .I live in Phoenix too, and have never heard him referred to as anything but Alice Cooper). It's very noticeable during the interviews that Vincent is talking about Alice, not the other way around. Although not as up to date as the the VH1 "Behind The Music" episode, it is more in depth.

The fun starts with the 2nd DVD disc - well, sort of. There are interviews with Alice Cooper and others that are both old and current, more music clips and lots of info. That bad part is that after a certain point you enter a "game" you play on your DVD player that rolls dice and leads to different interview clips depending on where you are on the "board game" on the screen. This ends up getting REAL old real fast, because you start running into the same interview again and again, but aren't sure if you've seen everything. Still, if you're at all interested in the ENTIRE story of Alice Cooper, this is a great video to own.

After I watched this, I went out and found more Alice Cooper DVDs, which I'll discuss next, as well as the CD "Mascara & Monsters: The Best Of Alice Cooper." The album is a good representation of all the hits produced by Alice Cooper, so if you're even remotely interested in him, you'll like the album.
