Title: Omega
Label: Lumberjack Mordem Music
This band is insanely talented with their instruments! I was impressed from the beginning with the trumpets and electric guitar, somehow working together. Aside from TSO I had never heard that work before! They can slide and trill, and the drummer is a lot of fun to hear as well. He’s delicate but knows when to pounce. The Cancer Conspiracy have definitely spent a lot of time fine-tuning their sound and the effort is evident.

The Cancer Conspiracy are very current and very accessible. It’s hard to find a funky drummer these days, but here it is, clearly. It’s also great to hear the bass playing its critical part in the msuic, but without overpowering. They come off like a young Gary Hoey, and for those of you who know who he is that is a huge complement. The second song in particular reminds me of the older genre now coming through in Omega.

It’s refreshing to hear really good guitar on its own. To my ear it's hard to find a guitarist who can carry a song without the benefit of a vocalist and lyrics, but The Cancer Conspiracy has their sound down! The melodies can sometimes tend toward the repetitive but man can these guys play!

I like how they didn't name the songs... They just play what they know without having to tag a name on the end of everything. This is a strong body of work that I can definitely recommend. If you are curious, look them up on Myspace where you'll find even more songs.
