Artist: A Plus
Title: My Last Good Deed

Two plus two be…fore you knew it A-plus came out with his first solo album. My Last Good Deed was born out of struggle, a birth from conflict, like finally mastering high school algebra after several nights of studying, dulled-down erasers, and poor grades on final exams. A-Plus finally makes the grade and puts out his knockout album for the hip-hop crowd.

His title originates from an intimate conversation with his father, discussing his reoccurring problems in relationships and business dealings. His dad’s advice was to put his foot down and make one last effort to make these situations work out. He said, “If it still doesn’t work out, make it your last good deed and move on.”

Like many of us recognizing problems, learning from our mistakes, while simultaneously picking up the pieces and moving on. We draw the line, and then underline the experience, so that these lessons do not reoccur. A-Plus threw this energy into an album.

A-Plus is a founding member of two-certified-classic hip-hop groups, Souls of Mischief and the Heiroglyphics, and My Last Good Deed is the next mile marker on his compelling journey. Lyrically, the album covers a diverse amount of material with its seventeen tracks. “The One” is the dramatic jumping off point for the album as well as an homage to A-Plus’ Jamaican heritage, courtesy of Kingston-born Major Terror. The first verse starts off with an explosive entrance that weaves lyrics rhythmically into your head: I’m glad that you made it/You glad that I waited./Unpredictable, you never know how Adam would take it/I’m rather impatient/A member of the Cannabis nation/I’m actually blazing/As I’m rapping these verses...

A-Plus makes his introduction and then leaves his audience bobbing their heads to this Jamaican style rhyme. The third verse sums up A-Plus’s attitude to the album perfectly: "This my first solo effort I hope you get it/If you don’t then it’s copasetic but no disrespecting/I done earned my stripes, dude made, my dues paid."

Although labeled as an underground artist, A-Plus has collaborated with major performers such as Nas, Redman, Wu-Tang, Pharcyde, Eminem, and De La Soul to name a few.  It’s no secret that A-plus is an album worth purchasing!
