I’ll admit it, I waited longer than I probably should’ve to listen to this album. Don’t get me wrong, I like my country, in a Keith-Urban-country-mainstream-pop kind of way. So I was a little hesitant at first. Annie Sims has a beautiful voice, and I can appreciate the fact that she annunciates more often than not. The sound is soft-rock (think Bed Time Magic from WMJX or Delilah) meets country that is really rather sweet, if a little bit corny. If you’re feeling a bit love-y, or think you’re lost as to what to get your mum for her birthday, pick up this album. It’s mainstream enough for just about anyone to get along with in terms of the sound, and the lyrics will melt her sweet little heart. Promise. You’ll also be pleased to know that some of the songs contain just the daily recommended amount of cowbell, so if you feel as though there isn’t enough in your life, this is the album for you to fix that. My personal favorite on the album is the fourth track, Just Can’t Tell. It follows two people who both want the other, but just can’t communicate it at all because they’re too afraid to. Sound much like your life? Maybe it’s just me. The album is very sweet, but you have to be ready for a soft-rock-country love song album in order for this to be one that you’ll enjoy. So, like I said: your mum, you maybe, the Faith Hill fanatic in your life (though Sims doesn’t take to belting notes out quite like Faith). A good album for relaxing to and possibly feeling nostalgic about past loves. User reviews
