Artist: Llorca
Title: New Corner
Label: Pias America

Llorca's debut album, "New Comer" is unlike anything that I've ever heard before. It's an infusion of jazz, funk and r&b all mixed up into a dynamic explosion of music that awakens your senses. A legendary mixture of sounds and rhythms that reminds you of the old school style of people such as Miles Davis and Billie Holiday. This music demands attention from its listener as it takes you from a jazz house to a blues bar to an electro-funk club. Once you hear this album you'll never look at jazz the same again.

"Indigo Blues" proves to be one of the best tracks as its featured artists, Nicole Graham, croons softly with the saxophone keeping the rhythm. Her voice brings a whole new element to the song and helps the listener to visualize the song better. The LadyBirds appear in "True to Me", an uplifting and track about being true to the only person who will be there in the long run, yourself. It's an upbeat track with lots of feeling being portrayed through song. And bringing up the rear is "End/I Cry (Alternate Take)". A surprisingly good track compared to its counterpart (I Cry). It brings you into a sort of melodic trance, which you can't escape and quite frankly, you won't want to. It's slower than a lot of the other tracks, which allows you to relax more and really let yourself sink in.

As a jazz and blues fan, I loved this album. It has a genuine feeling of life that can be felt in every track. Without compromising with the general media, Llorca was able to compose a unique sound of music and should be praised as pioneers. This isn't an easy to emulate so I strongly doubt that there will be many contenders on their way to the top. Being able to communicate with the world through just music, and doing it well, is a talent that is cherished. I commend Llorca for their effort and hope that they can gain the success they need.
