Reviews Artist: Kula ShakerTitle: Strange Folk Label: Epic Records As cliche as it may sound, the Beatles were the first thing to come to mind as I listened to some of Kula Shaker's tracks. Yet the music this British band, that has returned from about an eight-year hiatus from the late 1990's, has an added flare to the 1960's sounds of yesterday. They claim both Muse and Wolfmother as influences. The band sympathetically touches on a current event with the track Hurricane Season. The song begins and ends with the sounds of chirping seagulls and ocean waves with the lyrics such as "God, if you can hear me, give me some relief" in between. Other tracks focus on the theme of love. Fool that I am sings of the foolishness of love while Die for Love rocks out about exactly what it looks like, dying for love. There doesn't seem to be one certain theme from Strange Folk, but rather a variety of songs and sounds. User reviews There are no user reviews for this item. Add new review Powered by jReviews |
