Reviews Artist: DaedelusTitle: Live at Low End Theory Label: Alpha Pup Records I guess things would be different if I had this pumping out of a state-of-the-art surround sound system but, alas, I did not. Things would have been a lot more positive on my end had I actually been at the show. These electronic ambience motifs rarely translate well into album form. For what it’s worth though, Live at Low End Theory had its beautiful moments of robotic expression. Yeah, this is kind of like “robot music”, but it’s also trance and house; the former not really being a “real” genre outside of my own mind. Daedelus, from the other work of his that I’ve mined, seems to be a prodigy at blending incongruent electronic intonation with sweeping strings and rag-time sensibility. It’s quite eloquent. It’s also a style that isn’t as experimental as it used to be. This being a live set of an electronic artist I don’t need to tell you that listing favorite tracks is like trying to pick your favorite bookend. All tracks mesh within the others on both sides and sometimes leaping about to and fro. Live at Low End Theory is a set with a great deal of build ups and not a great deal of cresting the wave of sound. Once again, this album represents an event you most certainly have to experience first hand. I’d say go to work on some of Daedelus’ studio recorded swagger before venturing in to this disc. This is only recommended to people who attended the set and want a keepsake of the curious confusion therein. *Do not let this review deter you from listening to Daedelus’ other works. I don’t kid when I say it is amazing. Think of it this way: if a brainwave synchronizer could produce music, this would be it. User reviews There are no user reviews for this item.
