Reviews Artist: AllureTitle: Sunny Days Label: MCA Records On their first CD since 1997, the girls who seemingly wanted to be En Vogue now sound like they want to be Destiny's Child. Not that either are bad aspirations, but this New York quartet of girls (Alia, Lalisha, Akissa and Linnie) really need to carve out a more personal niche. They do hit with the sweet-flowing single "Express Yourself" and can lay down a strong ballad ("Can't Live Without You"), but most of this disc sounds like they are just trying too hard fit into to the current wave of hip-hip/pop. The girls voices are angelic and really do have some of the best combined harmonies since…Umm….En Vogue! That aside, Sunny Days is full of upbeat lyrics and irresistible hooks. Not that the girls are any lightweights, as they pull a J Lo/Ja Rule type move by employing the rapping crafts of Kool Wit Me and Nucci Rey O, who breathe some Hip-Hop credibility into the searing track, "Bump." While this is not the CD that will be the Springboard to a spot on the next MTV sponsored TRL Tour, they certainly have the chops to be headed in that direction.
