Reviews Artist: OneRepublicTitle: Dreaming Out Loud Label: Interscope Records It’s safe to say that the up and coming band, OneRepublic owes a lot of thanks to hip hop artist Timbaland for their recent fame. Timbaland remixed and released OneRepublic’s Apologize on his newest album, Shock Value, and it quickly became a hit. Now the only remaining question is whether the rest of their debut album, Dreaming Out Loud is as good as their chart topping Apologize or if they’re just another one hit wonder made popular by a really great remix. The answer? It’s good! This band made up of a bunch of young 20-somethings with a lot of heart have honed their ability to write a string of songs with a common bond while also making them each a little different. It’s easy for a rock band that has a lead singer with a dreamy voice like RyanTedder’s to record a lot of good same-sound songs that after listening to, make you wonder if you’ve just heard the same track twelve times. Luckily, this is not one of those albums. Though most tracks on this album have a common theme of love, loss, and pulling yourself up again by your bootstraps, each song definitely has a different feel to it, keeping the album interesting and full of hit after hit. If you’re getting over a break up, feeling like a song of empowerment, or just really wanting to sit back and listen to some chill rock, this is the record for you. Tracks like All Fall Down, Wont Stop, and Someone to Save You definitely have the ability to make you feel like OneRepublic is singing their hearts out just for you and wow, it feels good. Dreaming Out Loud has that similar heart filled rock and roll sound that made bands like Five for Fighting, Keane, and Death Cab for Cutie famous, but with more rock. If you find yourself listening to and enjoying their two radio hits, Apologize or Stop and Stare then you should definitely pick up Dreaming Out Loud. You’ll find yourself appreciating their great sound, identifying with their touching lyrics, and loving song after song. User reviews
