Reviews Artist: Bobby BareTitle: Drunk and Crazy ... Plus Label: Raven Records Former Grammy winner and long-time country music artist Bobby Bare has done it again... sort of. I say sort of because the latest release bearing his name is the album Drunk and Crazy... Plus, which is actually a re-issue of his classic 1980 released, with some extra tracks thrown in for good measure. Drunk and Crazy... Plus is a true hoedown of a party containing a colossal 24 tracks. One of country music’s most versatile and talented artists and songwriters, Bobby Bare has often been compared to the likes of Jack Clement, Johnny Cash, Tom T. Hall, Kris Kristofferson, and Billy Joe Shaver. Bobby Bare has been making music since the 1950s, and from 1959 to 1983 has had 51 charted singles. In the 80s, Bare hosted a television show called “Bobby Bare and Friends,” which featured him interviewing popular songwriters of the time. Following the release of his first album in 20-some years, The Moon Was Blue, this re-issue of the classic Drunk and Crazy, along with the extra tracks that make up the 'plus', has just the right mix of classic twang and banjo to make me wonder why Bare isn't back on the chart-topping map. On this album Bare covers Song of the South written by Bob McDill, a hit song covered by country band Alabama. Also included is the Billboard charting duet with Rosanne Cash, No Memories Hangin’ ‘Round and It’s a Dirty Job” duet with former country and western singer Lacy J. Dalton.
