FOR THE MUSICLINK INCLINED

Hi! And welcome to this 'Zine's latest feature!

What's it about? It's about those interesting, informative and downright entertaining websites out there, that involve music or musicians in some way. It will be my job to search out and find those sites and report back to you!

And how do I find them? Good question! I have four time-tested methods of locating these musical treasures:

  • The Dedicated Search
With a goal in mind, I ferret out every last possible connection that might have a bearing on the object of my search. Most of the sites related to articles in the 'Zine are found by this method, and the best site for anyone to begin such a search is The Ultimate Band List. This site is home to the most comprehensive listing of Bands, Publishers, Music, Radio Stations and almost anything else that involves music.

  • The Stream of Consciousness This is my favorite method of finding interesting sites. Another name for it is Follow the Links. This involves my starting out with some music related site and following the links most sites have listed to other sites - each one more removed and unusual than the last. From a simple trip to Columbia Records I may follow a dozen or more links, like a great daisy chain on the Net, as the name or description catches my fancy. The end result may show up in this column, or in many cases, simply be relegated to the backwaters of the cyberstream.

The Christopher Columbus Method This method is also referred to as the "Look What I Found" search. It usually involves a search that begins with a certain goal in mind but ends up with a completely unintended result. After all Chris' discovery was no less wonderful because he took a wrong turn. It also often involves a search that has nothing to do with music to begin with, but somehow something of note turns up.

Someone Else Told Me About It Yes, even I have been known to take a page from someone else's songbook! Or one of you readers out there that finds something too good not to share with us. The linkster is always on the lookout for new sources so if you have one to share write me care of the Zine and be sure to get that web address right so I don't get lost somewhere in Cyberia.

Now that you know how I do it, let's visit some places of interest together!

    Just a couple for starters:

    Swen's Unofficial Machine Head Page
This is a typical Fan unofficial homepage, but shows you how a dedicated fan can put together a myriad of information on the subject of their adoration. Since the 'Zine interviewed LOGAN MADER of "Machine Head" for the March Issue, the Linkster thought you might find this one interesting.

    PROJEKT Records
This is the Record Label's page for ACCESS to the MUSIC ZONE'S Feature Article this month. Find out which artists they represent and what's hot! Tour dates, new releases, catalogs all at the touch of a keyboard.

In future month's the Linkster will take you to some of your favorite artists, and some you may not have heard of, all in the interest of taking you on a journey to the MUSIC ZONE. LATER!
