Title: Defying the Stereotype
Label: Self Released

Not quite like an Avril, Amy Lee, or Haley Williams, singer songwriter Landon Dunning shows us a glimpse of her talent in Defying the Stereotype. All the songs on the album were written or co-written by Landon herself.  The album is packed full of compelling lyrics, addictive melodies and Landon Dunning’s amazing vocals. When you put that all together you get a pretty good album. If you want to check out just how good her vocals are take a listen to the song The First to Come in Last.

The album starts of really good -- the first two songs are the best -- then slowly drops off further down the track list.  The first two tracks Only 20 and Hush both feature creative lyrics and are both top notch songs.  I fell in love with them on the first listen. And while I suggested earlier that the songs get weaker as you go along, they're still worth a listen until about track nine or ten.  From there, it just doesn't really do it for me... these songs just don't fit well with the rest.

Another thing I noticed is that, while a talented singer, Landon never really takes any chances with her vocals -- she never really pushes the envelope.  But even through this sort of negative, I found Defying the Stereotype a good album -- well worth the purchase. The first half definitely scores high.  Defying the Stereotype is good, but the band has the potential to produce something so much better... maybe even great.
