Reviews Artist: Sasha and ShawnaTitle: Siren Label: Manhattan Records Although making quite the duo, I was disappointed to hear two extraordinarily beautiful voices singing such dull songs. Aside from the familiar track of Dust in The Wind I think Sasha and Shawna's powerful and enchanting voices are simply wasted on mediocre pieces of music. Both opera singers, Sasha and Shawna hoped to work together to add some creative punch to the traditional genre. They aimed to create a sound people would be eager to blast from their car radios and boom boxes. I regret to say I don’t think this mission was met. Siren does not seem to present any modern edge to what I believe is the 'old' Opera genre. Opera lovers may find this CD simply amazing but I don’t think it will be very popular among those not accustomed to the world of the Opera genre. Don’t get me wrong though, their talent is completely apparent even through such conditions. It is worth playing the CD just to take in and admire the magnitude of their personal talent. Sasha and Shawna's voices blend and work together in a partnership unlike any other. I would not be surprised if they do produce something worthwhile over time. I don’t see any weakness in their voices, their teamwork, and their determination to deliver something new to music lovers everywhere. My advice... stay tuned.
