Artist: Spooky Pie
Title: Audios
Label: Boo Records

Since hardcore chick rock is back, it's no surprise that bands are popping up everywhere trying to find their place in the spotlight. But if you don't have originality, then there's no reason to even go looking for a record deal. Visual and musical creativity make or break artists and I think Spooky Pie found that out before hand. Their album Audios is a mosh pit of original and innovative tracks. Well, except for the usual male bashing that is, but that comes with the territory.

"Girls Will Save The World" is the first track on the album. It's a harmonic blend of female empowered lyrics and upbeat, surfer music with a dash of rock. The lyrics are a little passé and repetitive but overall it's a pretty decent song. "I Ruined Him" is pretty self-explanatory. It's a hard-edged rock song about the girls paying the guys back with a vengeance. I think this will be a great song for all of the rage filled females out there. The way the drums pound and the guitar wails in your ear, it's sure to get your adrenaline pumping.

"I Got Your Number" is another revenge song but this time it's not just for the guys; it shows that girls can get it too. This song is pretty music like the previous one except for the fact that this one has a lot more power. Everything about the song is louder and more projected. It also has more feeling to it, which makes it easier for the listener to get into it.

Spooky Pie isn't for light listening. When you listen to this album you're definitely going to feel it and it's going to set something off inside of you that'll get your adrenaline flowing. I, personally, didn't like the whole "surfer" feel to it but it's great that they were willing to try something different. Overall, it's a good album with some pretty mind blowing songs I just warn all of the listeners to be prepared.
