AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 LINKS
Well not nearly that many, but THE LINKSTER has got himself a new browser
and has been able to make better connections. So "hop on the bus"
we're "leavin' on a jet plane" to "search the world over."
Sorry, sometimes the music muse grabs me. But let's take a look at some
places we can visit around the globe without ever leaving the comfort of
home.
Like Phineas Fogg, we'll start in London, and maybe on that last night of
the trip, you might want to stop by and visit "The
Dirty Water Club"and check out the action. And you thought
some of the band names in the US were strange? After partying away at the
"Dirty Water Club," it's time to use that Chunnel to get to the
mainland and check out the European scene.
Europe is the home of many huge Pop
Festivals, so if you want to schedule your visit around one,
find out what's going on when, or use one of the many links on this page.
But for those of you who want to find out where the real action is, check
out Metalmap
Europe, a totally different slant on a map of Europe. And no,
this is not a mining map either!
But let's slip across the Mediterranean Sea to the Dark Continent and all
the way down to South Africa where you'd think a metal band might call itself
the Krugerrand's, but no it's the "Voice
of Destruction". With the breakup of the Soviet Union,
independence is on everyone's mind so why not check out the Russian Indie Music Page
and find out what goes on besides the Bolshoi Ballet. This certainly isn't
the Borscht Belt!
As we head farther east we want to stop off in the former Crown Colony,
Hong Kong, now part of Red China, and visit Ray's
World.
From here it's only a short hop to Japan and the j-u nderground.
Some pretty neat graphics here.
Now we're on the homeward leg, as we cross the international date line and
find ourselves in Australia, where metal is a growing industry, and visit
AusMETAL - The Australian
Metal Web Site.
And before we head home after this whirlwind, tour check out "Demon
Gate" in Brazil, home of Salsa and deathmetal?
Finally we lug our tired browser home until next month when The Linkster
will be looking for bands with really WEIRD pages. So if you have any nominees
send them to The Linkster at djehs@music-reviewer.com.
I don't know about you but I'm going to check the fridge for something to
wash down all this cyber-road dust!
