Tense, embracing a melodic take on the
new trends of metallic heaviness, located somewhere in the gray
area between "Deftones/Korn Land" and the sea of Tool,
"Pressure 4-5" crush repeatedly. "Antetechnology"
is a slickly distorted romp of wall of riff breaks set against
moody bass carries and taunt whispers of angst. The drumming
is solid, with multiple segments of rolling snappy beats, especially
prevalent on the moody pullback in "4or." 2 points
for the Mike Myers "So I married An Axe Murder" imitation
at the beginning of "11," which is a huge guitar wail
and chunk fest of proper degree, and has some of the most guttural
screams "Pressure 4-5" can produce, but they are done
for effect. The normal pace of the vocals is mostly executed
in toggles between whiney whispers and belted verbalizations.
The end of the song and disk is a one note spiky pound, just
to cement it home.
With 6 songs that ache with strain and
the formula that is a fast becoming familiar one, "Pressure
4-5" stamp a fisted punch wrapped in static electricity
upon the brand. |
