Got them Christmas Blues? No? Well then you ought to get out and buy them! House of Blues has gathered together recordings of classic blues artists doing their Christmas blues. These are recordings from as early as Amos Milburn's 1949 rendition of "Let's Make Christmas Merry, Baby," so the quality may be less than you're used to - the quality of the recording that is, NOT the music.

Some of the high points are Albert King's "Santa Claus Wants Some Lovin'," "Santa" by Lightning Hopkins, Anderson Funderburgh and the Rockets, "Sam's Christmas Blues" and "How I Hate To See Christmas Come Around" by Jimmy Witherspoon. But the real treasure is Bessie Smith doing "At The Christmas Ball." They just don't make them like her anymore. So remember, even Santa gets the blues, and he's probably got this disc spinning even now as he thinks about the long night ahead.
