Artist: Various Artists
Album: "OM Sanctuary"
Label: Valley of the Sun (800-421-6603)
Rating:
This is the latest release from the Valley of the Sun label, which
specializes in "New Age" meditation/massage/relaxation type music. One may wonder what a 60-plus minute CD filled with the chant of the word "om" is doing in this magazine, but after hours of listening to everything from heavy metal to punk rock this is an amazingly relaxing cd. The deep simple chant of "om," accompanied by background harp and synthesizer, with simple little variations just washes over you. Need to relax? Forget your cares? This is just the ticket. Valley also has over a dozen other titles of a similar nature available which you can order by calling.

Artist: Aerosmith
Album: "A Little South of Sanity"
Label: Geffen
Rating:

IF you're a huge "Aerosmith" fan, and IF you happend to see their live tour last year, you will love this Live 2-CD set. All the old favorites are gathered in one place on this album, with a couple new tracks thrown in for good measure. As a die-hard "Aerosmith" fan, I'm enjoying the hell out of the album(s), but there isn't anything new here. For a "live" album it's not too bad, and the energy displayed by both the crowd and the band is very apparent. Since I saw the concert, I can appreciate the album more than those who didn't, and there are only a few songs from the "Nine Lives" album vs. the show I saw. Other than that, chalk this up to another "Aerosmith" Greatest Hits album with a live audience to push it along. At least all the best songs are on one set of CDs,so you don't have to hunt through your whole collection to listen to them.
