". . .And out comes the zombie to cut
off their what!!??" "Rob Zombie" is an interesting
character to say the least. He's a walking horrorshow. A classic
black and white, cult, "B" movie figure, whose very
fiber of being boasts an ominous warning of death and doom. Zombie's
latest solo venture is devoid of nothing from that which he originally
conjured up in the earliest projections for "White Zombie,"
and in fact, it is one step beyond. His "Thirteen Tales
of Cadaverous Cavorting Inside the Spookshow International"
- try saying this three times fast!! - revolve solely on that
inner dementia, and off-color background, that was the brainchild
of "White Zombie," now ultimately regenerated into
a sideshow all his own. Zombie's past contributions to other
successful projects range far and wide, and reached their pinnacle
with his being asked to write the script for the next Crow movie
series! "Hellbilly Deluxe" thunderously rages into
the depths of the dark, thunderous with its perilous tenacity,
while chilling sound FX provide the necessary backdrop of evil.
With contributions from the likes of W.Z. drummer John Tempesta,
Tommy Lee for a couple of tracks, and NIN's guitarist Danny Lohner,
which explains the electronic leanings of the album, songs like
"Superbeast" and "Dragula" really come to
life - so to speak! Add to this, the artistically macabre cover
designs, and booklet featuring the legendary works of Marvel
comics greats, well, Zombies the world over will all have something
to scream about just in time for Halloween. |
