"Come Along Sorry Ass, We're Going Places" - yes, it would certainly seem so. Indie/punk road-dogs, "Latex Generation," are going to make a lot of heads turn with their newest album "Boysrock." With a polished, hard-edged, and modern punk sound that parallels what The Clash first began, to where fellow 'generation' suffix-holders "DE" recently brought back all smothered in glam, they drive a pretentious wedge between the two . . . and hock up a good spit in the direction of The Offspring's commercial appeal just for kicks.

Veterans of successive Warped Tour performances, L8XG embrace all that makes music fun, yet applying a mature slant that predates their relatively young existence. Try and try as I might, I could find little to complain about after my first listen, which was pleasantly unexpected considering the flood of trashy punk-wannabe nobodys out there. I was positively floored with the way the guys can carry a tune, while ably remaining in a position still fixed comfortably beneath the ground.

Among the twelve sonic sensations that make up "Boysrock," my favorites include "Laugh it Off," for starters, "Tank Stellar," "One for the Bastards" - and yes, here's to 'em - and in particular, "Ilona Stanley's Response" and "Campsite 54." The lyric booklet is a must read. With a parody of songs with words so meaningful and deep, they're really a trip.
