Taking their name from frontman, and former Gorilla Biscuits singer Anthony Civorelli, "Civ's" lineup has earned their stripes playing in such influential bands as Youth of Today, Quicksand, and Underdog. Civ (vocals), Charlie Garriga (guitar), Arthur Smilos (bass), and Sammy Siegler (drums) make up the regime of this sandpaper coarse NYC power pop hit squad.

"Thirteen Day Getaway" explodes from the first track, "Secondhand Superstar," boasting thick catchy riffs and sing-a-along lyrics that will have you dancing around your living rooms. From the rock-anthem "Shout It," to the adrenalized pop of "Itchycoo Park," "Civ" captures the aggression, veteran musicianship and candy-sweat catchiness of a pop guru.

Sammy Siegler pounds in a relentless fury, showing power and precision that has been sadly absent from most music today. Charlie Garriga showboats throughout the record, making the strings wine and scream in all the right places. Arthur Smilos holds down the bass lines that are just vital to any pop based tune. Civ's sweetly tortured voice rivals that of such pop greats as Jim Ellison or Evan Dando, and at times is quite reminiscent of a Rakes Progress sound.

Combining the styles of punk, pop and hard-core, "Civ" forge a sound grounded firmly in the NY underground tradition, maintaining integrity and ability, while staying radio friendly enough to break through. There is no doubt that this is a band to watch.
