"He we go...BLOOD FOR BLOOD" is the opening chant over a drag through the mud guitar line which cracks into "Cheap Wine" and hits with the core sound weaned on an older school punk approach. "Blood for Blood" can do a pretty good greasy rock presence lacing some dirty riffs in among the speedier (and expected) punk rock chops. The vocals even clock in with the assumed brutality befitting most Victory Bands, but are usually clear enough to get the message across without resorting to lyric sheet translations with liberal doses of a more direct spoken word delivery.

The tempo slow down in "Eulogy For A Dream" makes the song sound like someone pulled the plug, but then finds a steady crunch into an almost melodic and uplifting big guitar end. With more hook than expected, since core punk is often more concerned with aggression and message than the melodic catch, "Blood for Blood" are a tasty slam off the hard core kegger. Only 7 songs here with one hidden extra gem, and all but one clocking in at the 2:30 mark, it's a quick downhill ride sans breaks.

*bonus* - an unlisted track #8 - is the blistering "Blood for Blood" cover of Motorhead's "Ace of Spades," complete with core staple "whoa-oh-oh" backing the vocals. This can also be found on the "Built For Speed" Motorhead tribute (also out on Victory Records). I'm sure Lemmy would be proud. In an adequate self-description offered from "Blood for Blood" themselves, "Sounds from the streets on the Eve of the Apocalypse - White Trash Hard Core Rock N' Roll...so fuck you."

Yeah...fuck you.
