I don't care who plays on it or what songs appear, you simply can't go wrong with an "Iron Maiden" tribute, especially now in the wake of their recent reunion with one of the true great voices of metal, Bruce Dickinson. Deadline's latest addition to the collection is no different, and in fact goes a step beyond most, as about one quarter of the material features the original Maiden vocalist Paul Di'Anno, listed here as a member of Killers, but at this point is thought to again be with his original Battlezone. Whatever the case, this latest tribute will adapt well for fans of classic metal delivered most effectively by the old English dogs that first forged their fire in the dawn of the famed NWOBHM movement several years before. The rhythm sections are oftentimes shoddy in places, and the opening chorus of "Can I Play With Madness" is absolutely irritating, but the real highlights here are the featured vocalists that do respectable interpretations of the Dickinson-era material that's simply unsurpassable to begin with.

Nobody's gonna care less about the appearance of Lea Hart, late of Fastway's painful demise, but to the contrary, unexpected appearances by the likes of Grim Reaper's Steve Grimmett ("2 Minutes To Midnight" and "Number Of The Beast"), and current Rainbow singer Doogie White ("Hallowed Be Thy Name" and "The Evil That Men Do") should arouse the greatest interest.

Of notable mention is former MSG frontman Gary Barden, arriving out of nowhere to round things off in rugged fashion doing "The Trooper!" Further evidence that their admirers are many and their competitors are few, this is a whole-hearted and well played dedication to the band that continues to remain among the elite of the heavy metal foundation.
