Guess what homies? "Somethin' For The People" are back again to hit us off
with their new CD "Issues." The Warner Brother's artist have been so busy
workin' it out on other projects for other people it has been a while since
we've heard from them. They came together and laid it out like that for us
all and I suggest you don't sleep on it.
The CD "Issues" is just that, a series of songs covering the issues out
there, facing the guys out there that have their shit together. "Now U
Wanna," the first song on this CD, discusses the situation covered in a lot of
songs where a certain female who "wouldn't give a nigga no play" wants
to get with him now that he has his cheddar together. The next issue covered
is about that girl who wants you to pay for her lifestyle and the guy who's
just looking for a girl who has her own thing going on. This song features
"Diablo," who's rap goes perfectly with the feel of the song.
The next track, "Last Call" featuring "Xzibit and Tash," talks about trying
to hookup with
that girl before the night is over at the club. "Come Clean" is a smoothed
out groove about being with the girl who has something on her mind and she
just needs to unburden herself on the man in her life.
"Ooh Wee" is one of
my favorite jams on the CD. It has that funky double beat that makes you
want to shake it down to the ground. The rap verse, in this song, shows the
diversity of the talent in "Somethin' For The People."
"You" is a hip hop
harmony with lots of swing. A song to make you bounce.
Their latest single, and the next track, "Bitch With No Man," is definitely an
answer to all those male bashing songs out there. "Somethin' For The People"
is giving you advice from the heart when they tell you "not to listen to the
bitch with no man." "Act Like You Want It," featuring Eric Benet, is a
beautiful love song. This is my favorite by far. When the lights are down
and the time is right, I wouldn't mind hearing this one bumpin' in the
background. "Can We Make Love" is a continuation of this heart felt, soul
stirring feeling of love in song.
"Things Must Change" is a well written social commentary. Some of the
"Issues" sentiments, thoughts and feelings of today's society are skillfully
put to music in this song. I whole heartedly believe in everything said in
this song and I appreciate "Somethin' For The People" having the guts to put
it out there.
"I Apologize" is another of those wonderful songs of love that touch the soul
and spirit. The mixture of beat, tempos, harmonies and rap make for a very
different and interesting song.
There are some amazing songs on this new CD, "Issues." I enjoyed it from
beginning to end. The highs and lows, stops and starts, fast and slow keep
you on a roller coaster of song that holds your attention till the very last
note. Amazing lyrics and exceptional production come together to produce a
must have CD.
