Heavy on the industrial quality and the work of two artists - does this
remind you of
anyone? Well actually, getting past the opening riff of "A Toast,"
that's where the Ministry comparison ends - at least for now. Very
soon after, the quivering effects of a keyboard awaken in the background
and the vocals are right up there with some of the finest quality razor
stubble ever to irritate the unshaven face. "Here's to good friends/
Tonight is nothing special. . ." What DID ever happen to happy hour, as
the first line reads?
Okay, song two and the pulverizing, Ministry-like
chops fall back into place before being drowned out by the glut of
programming and assorted varieties of shapely synthetic effects - an
effective bombardment of zone decay - or "Peace Minus One," and great
lyrics these gentlemen came up with!
So far, "Rorschach Test" zeros in on
the future of rock with their violent breeding of pulsating power chords
and heavy use of techno-static. Similar in sound to
Static-X, White Zombie and Pitchshifter, only with slightly more pull! I
can see this shaking lose a foundation or two in the live setting while
anxious onlookers wail away against the world outside.
"Wicked Within" and "Satan" together comprise of a full three words between
'em.
"You, Me, Us" - at least as far as the chorus is concerned. But,
digging deeper, or at least listening harder, there's quite a lot more
unfulfilled anger on display here. Still, does the grand master of all
that's evil deserve anything less?
The two characters that have created
this "test" are launching a world's worth of unsettled issues aimed
straight in the face contentment, yet they do it with such grace!
At odds with seemingly all that's holy, "Peace Minus One" delivers a
painful dose of reality with no hope and no future. Only the fire that will
burn
all the fornicators is still left in this destitute world of ours!
