Do you miss the 80's? I mean like the 80's
as a whole era? Remember Family Ties, Break Dancing, Cheesy Sunglasses,
Members Only Jackets, the whole 9? Well, "Len" can't
bring the 80's back to ya, but The Burger Pimp, his sister Sharon,
D Rock, Planet Pea (AKA Kundu 5) and DJ Moves, have managed to
harness just about every great sound to come out of the 80's
and fuse it together into one great ball of musical fun.
It's all here - pop, old school, hip hop,
break music. From classic rap styles to Pixie influneced sweet
pop. Not to mention guest appearances by Kurtis Blow (Cold Chillin'),
Biz Markie (Beautiful Day, Man Of The Year), and Poison member
CC Deville (Feelin' Alright). Also, part of the "Ill Produce
Crew" or "Criptic Souls Crew" are DJ Buck65 and
MR Dibbs, named one of 1999's Top Ten Turntabilists in the world
by SPIN Magazine.
From "Steal My Sunshine," poppy
with a great hook, the group's first single off the record, to
"Man Of The Year," old school rap/freestyle, to "The
Hard Disk Approach," electronic keyboard little song, one
thing is quite clear: "You Can't Stop The Bum Rush"
is a fun record. One that you can spin over and over again, and
your bound to crack a smile. On the down side, the record shows
little, if any, constancy. Each track is a different genre, and
the guest appearances tend to overshadow "Len" on some
tracks, but all in all this is a great record.
Personal favorite tracks are: "Steel
My Sunshine," "Man Of The Year," "Monster
Jam" and "Feelin' Alright" (which could be a Pixie's
song if they asked Frank Black along).
Bottom line is this: "All the people
in the place, rockin coast to coast, put your best foot forward
and rock the house." Go buy this record "'cause 'Len'
will take you out." |
