If there has every been an artist on the move, it has to be "Jason Sellers." Jason is a young, aspiring Gilmer, Texas native with exceptional talent. He's been a songwriter for many years, writing big hits for most of the top name artists including songs such as "Thinkin' Thing," "Don't Get Me Started," "Broken Wing," "He Left A Lot To Be Desired" and 'Lonely Won't Leave Me Alone." Finally taking the risk, he broke out on his own. His first album, "I'm Your Man," has achieved the recognition this artist so richly deserves, featuring the hit songs "I'm Your Man," "Hole In My Heart," and now the chart climber "This Small Divide."

I had heard a lot about this new artist, and I was anxious to hear and see what all the hype was about. As the house lights dimmed, the spotlight centered on "Jason Sellers." As he began his first song, "That Does It," it became totally understandable. Jason, and his right hand lead guitarist, were alone on the stage. It was a thrilling experience to see a new performer produce song after song, relying simply on his talent, while so many these days have such strong arrangements backing them up, it tends to overstate the talent of the performer. Many are adding flamboyant, almost bizarre actions, to get an audience's attention, too. Not Jason. Sitting on a stool with his guitar, and his lead guitarist, he captivated the audience with his down to earth talent. His warm personality and radiant smile were a magnetic force all their own. Jason has worked with Vince Gill, Billy Joe Royal, Ricky Skaggs, Pam Tillis, Steve Warner, and here in Ogden, he opened for Lonestar.

After singing a few songs, including "I'm Your Man," he asked that the house lights be turned on so he could see his audience. This kind of appreciation was very refreshing. His charm, witty personality and radiant smile caressed young and old alike.

Jason settled down quietly, then softly he began to sing the beautiful ballad, and fast climbing chart hitter, "A Small Divide." It starts out "I can reach out and touch you/ But I can't touch you at all/ We're both feeling lonely/ Even though we're side by side. . ." This song was written during one of the most emotional times of Jason's life. Going through a recent divorce from country singer LeAnn Womack, he poured his heart out, expressing the pain from deep down in his soul. Jason let his heart cry "It's amazing the distance/ Between your heart and mine/ I can't seem to cross over/ No mater how hard I try." Through these words, you could feel the emotional shatter of his heart. Listen closely and you can sense the influence of Vince Gill echoing through each verse. He engenders the agony of two hurting people, who once shared a beautiful love. This song brought many a tear to the audience.

While the house was totally silent, Jason was able to put in a positive plug for LeAnn , the true mark of a gentleman. Asking for the audience approval, Jason kicked into a high swing intro to his new song, "Brand New Man," a very catchy tune that rocked the house. As Jason left the stage, he received a standing ovation from the entire house. Later, during Lonestar's performance, they brought Jason back, and they all joined in performing the upcoming hit, "Cheater's Road," which was written by Jason.

After the performance, Jason and Lonestar had an open autograph session. It was refreshing to see how Jason appreciated his fans. One touching moment was when he was autographing a young girls overalls. The sparkle in that little girl's eyes expressed the delight she felt, and the effect Jason had on everyone.

Catch Jason Sellers when he comes to your town. It will be a night you won't want to miss. Cash in on what pure talent is really about.
