Shut your mouth and open your eyes… Well not exactly, but it just fits.
This Frenzal Rhomb thing is what I would call Juvenile Punk music, not
quite coming of age but played with a goofy sincerity -- tunes like
"Everything's Fucked," "I've Had Enough," (which could be an actual
radio hit in a less perfect world than which we live) "All Hail the
Weekend…" stuff like this, on the forefront nothing so serious as to
turn blue over waiting for the world to burn, but within this Jack O'
Lantern of a cast and crew there burns an intense maturity in the
lyrics.
"Local Resident Failure," and "War" serve as good examples
until we approach something like "Sodom The Clown," (and where this came
from is anyone's guess -- but it's not funny!) and then "I Love Fucking Up"
with its shimmy and shake good vibrations put to a square-circled
lyrical rendition brought upon by ineptitude, distress and
carelessness.
Frenzal Rhomb, slightly "greener" than Green Day, nearly
a Ramones meets Offspring mix of Pop-drenched speed-whacked fanaticism
and subtle humor… as difficult as it is to spell, it's decidedly easier
to listen to and its got its catchier moments -- definitely mod, playfully
skilled in the art of guilty pleasure and the musical equivalent to the
next door neighbor's kid with the shit-eating grin.
