This is true hair-slinging, hand-clapping
rock and roll ecstasy right from the word "go." In
fact The Go, is who they are and once they get their motors runnin',
look out cuz there's no slowing 'em down. The first question
we need to ask is
is it live or is it Memorex?
With a sound stripped to the core, good
old fashioned American rock and roll, "Whatcha Doin"
swings heavily backward toward 1968 with a knack for recreating
the highlights that first fell upon us with The Stooges, T-Rex,
Blue Cheer
and Steppenwolf, among others. As if I needed
to be reminded how long it's been since I first entered into
this world
Well, they've changed my ignorant misconceptions
on how lousy music seemed to be back then! The Go recaptures
all of the youthful energy yesterday's cult classics once exhibited,
and why not, they're from Detroit! That alone makes 'em worth
a listen or two. Refastening the echo and blur that successfully
fried many an amp cable, not to mention a fair share of brain
cells in the process, their brand of buzz-driven mindfunk ignites
the spark that sets aflame the likes of "Meet Me At The
Movies," "Keep on Trash," and "You Can Get
High."
At the same time edgy and catchy, their
brand of flighty, sing along closet-rock, will set your spirit
free
and like the song says, "Get You Off," where
doing so is seemingly a tambourine slap away. The firmness in
this live-in-studio delivery firmly presses between the ears
of the listeners-trashy and triumphant, all at once oozing with
harmonic brilliance. The Go's "Whatcha Doin'" is a
natural solution to get the blood pumping through the blocked
arteries that have plagued rock and roll for far too long.
