Rating
Yeah, five years does seem like a long time. Especially when the political climate has been so ripe for this band’s inexhaustible epithets. Never mind needing the cheat sheet for references on Suharto, Shay, or Gustafson in the lyrics. Propagandhi continue to lob molotov cocktails at every social abuse and institutional indignity that demeans humanity. With a reformist agenda, with the likes of "Ordinary People Do F***ed-Up Things When F***ed-Up Things Become Ordinary" and "Purina Hall Of Fame," you wonder why they bothered with something as customary as "Bullshit Politicians" (they’re all full, eh?). So how does the band sound after a half-decade’s nap? Fierce and piercing, with a firm hc barrage of swift chording and triple-time drumming. Although they do slip in some slower asides and progressive turnarounds into the fray, longtime fans might be surprised at the band’s insistence to set land speed records here. Making up for lost time? Just in time for another Bush in office.
