| Check it out, it's Trick Daddy with his new CD "Book of Thugs Chapter A.K. Verse 47" on Slip-N-Slide Records. This is a nigga' straight from the dirty south comin' straight atcha'. All ya'll booty shakers and car bumpers will love this CD. I can honestly say I am generally a fan of dirty south rappers. Big ups to my brothers from the South. I'm a hometown girl from Memphis, TN and I am happy to see that we have come into our own and are working our own thang from our side of the country. "Trick Daddy" comes real hard with it on this CD. I am very impressed with the production. The beats are good and solid. Each song has it's own merit, music wise. I also like that dirty south feel. He used traditional sounds from the South, those triple beats, that Puerto Rican sound from the barrios of Florida, he even used that big marching band sound we love from those great bands from the black colleges. The contents of the songs are also diverse. "Trick Daddy" and his cohorts discuss some interesting topics, as well as the traditional parties, money, drugs and women. A few of the guest performing on this CD are: "The Lost Tribe," "JV," Society," "Trina," "Kase," "Mystic," "Mystikal," "Twista," and "Buddy Roe." There weren't as many artists as some, but still quite a group for a 13 track CD. My favorite songs are "Boy," 'Get On Up," "America," "Shut Up," "Gotta Let You Have It" and "Hoe But Can't Help It." I think rapping is real when you speak about things you know. "Trick Daddy," I feel, has come real with his rap and has something to say about his "thug life." I like the CD but feel that there could have been a little more substance to some of the songs. The beats get a little sloppy at times but, all in all, it is a good presentation from "Trick Daddy." |
