Bad Sign #1 .. Mark Wills despite having
an attractive voice and presence.. has based his recent string
of hits on some of the most icky, sappy, try-too-hard-to-be-touching,
flat-out garbage out on country radio today. ( songs about plane
crash victims, abused and tortured children.. he's just a barrel
of laughs.)
Bad Sign #2.. The current inexplicably
successful hit single off this disc is a pathetic cover of what
was ALREADY an abysmally N-Sync-ish pop song called "Back
At One."
Bad Sign #3 .. This CD has an unlucky 13
songs.
Sorry Mark.. all the bad signs add up to
bad news.
To be blunt, This album mostly bites. Save
for the attractive and creative "This Can't Be Love,"
the pleasant "Right Here," the somewhat kicky title
cut and the only really GOOD song on this disastrous CD, "
Almost Doesn't Count" this whole disc is one egregious misstep
after another.
For one thing, If you are going to sing
cheeseball material .. sing about cheeseball THINGS. For GOD's
sake in the silly, overblown "Time Machine" we have
a want of trying to bring JFK back from the dead. Stick to moping
about love please and don't embarrass yourself more Mark trying
to change world history. For another thing, please attach the
right FEEL to the lyrics; "Still Waiting," another
mope-a-thon about neglected children is actually PEPPY!! ( ????
What the hell???) The actually expertly worded "The Perfect
Conversation" would be a great song if the tempo was just
a TAD above dirge level. I could go on and on but If I did actually
analyze any more of this dreck I am afraid of losing my dinner
all over my keyboard.
This is really a shame. Mr. Wills seems
like a lovely fellow in all his press material, and he definitely
is far from untalented.... but this material has got to go.
Go.....That is exactly what I am going
to do from any room or radio station that attempts to force me
to listen to any of this crap again. |
