"May I have this dance?" Regardless
of your taste in music to dance to, you will find something that
suits you on "The Big Tease," from the beauty of Blondie's
"Out in the Streets" to the Latin sound of Wes Cunningham's
"Car Wreck," and the driving beats of Headrillaz's
"Shoeshine" and Cydonia's "Supernova Heights."
The album is produced by Nellee Hooper.
He is the force behind "All Over My Face" by Dysfunctional
Psychedelic Waltons. The music is a blend of electronic keyboard
sounds with an 'otherworldly' sound, and drums with the singer's
voice asking "Is it all over my face? You've got me love
dancing."
For those who enjoy an eastern sound to
their music there is "Shashkin" by Omar Faruk Tibllek.
The music is exotic and seductive, evoking images of snake charmers
and belly dancers.
As if to emphasize the variety on this
CD we are treated to the rap sound of "Waiting for My Break"
by Day One, followed immediately by the ballad-like "At
the River" by Groove Armada. There are bits and pieces in
"At the River" that bring "Lucy in the Sky with
Diamonds" to mind.
One of the strangest pieces on the CD is
"Sway" by Dean Martin and Julie London. Imagine a 1940s
Latin ballad that has been given a modern sound by making the
same sounds repeat over and over. Just as you begin to think
your CD is stuck the music does change -- to another stuttering
repeated phrase!
The best piece for close, though not slow,
dancing is Roy Budd's "Hurry to Me." Any ballroom dance
fans will immediately begin to fox trot to this lovely instrumental.
"There Must be an Angel" by Fantastic
Plastic Machine is another psychedelic sounding number that would
lend itself to a variety of different dance styles."California
Dreaming" by Hi Jinx is a remake of The Mama's and the Papa's
famous song.
Take this one along to your next dance
party. Its variety is sure to please everyone. Or, tap your toes
and fingers along with the music at any time! |
