Short Takes

Artist: Glampire
Album: "Pretty Scary"
Label: J. Bird Records
Rating:

"Glampire," they scare me. They scare me in oh so many ways, and I think that's a good thing. "Pretty Scary," their sophomore release, endeavors to "Encompass all that is frighteningly beautiful, and dangerously gorgeous, about the human condition." I would say that is a pretty good epitaph for this disc.

Combining gothic and glam stylings, "Glampire" are received as a highly influenced hybrid of Trent Resnor and Freddie Mercury. At times, some Marilyn Manson influence is evident as well. The outcome is a strange explosion of darkness, sexuality and oddity, captured and presented in the form of well structured, eerie addictive tunes. This one is at the very least an interesting trip.
