Brady Seals sure has some powerhouse songwriting talent on this set of 10 tunes. Jamie O' Hara and Rodney Crowell are in assistance here to the boy from "Little Texas" who has had one top five hit to his solo credit already with the soaring "Another You." Unfortunately Mr. Seals solo efforts this time out don't always soar.. and when the don't they aren't just mediocre, they fall flatter than a runover pancake. Which is a shame because Brady seemed to have been moving AWAY from the execrable dreck like the nails-on-chalkboard "My Love" and cliched annoyance of "God Blessed Texas" that nevertheless unexplainably made Little Texas stars.

Most of the time on this album everything is equally divided at style points.... if it's fast then it's a song you can't beat..if it's slow it sucks. The initial single "I fell" almost gratingly intones the phrase "I fell" as many times as "My Love" said "my love" ..which is roughly enough times to induce a seizure. " All My Devotion" could be a pretty song if not for the incongruously clunky lyrics."The Best Is Yet To come" is shockingly awful dreck that is even more unfortunate knowing it came from the pen of the genius of Mr. Crowell,..maybe Brady's saccharine ballad disease is either catching or Rodney was having a bad day.

The REALLY sad part of this album folks is that the uptempo songs are downright perfect! I WANTED to give this album a five simply on the lyrics to "As Country As A Boy Can Be." How can you NOT adore a song if you have ANY rural roots or literacy at all that refers to 'maters, 'taters, CMT, TNN and government cheese in the course of ONE incredible song? Or how about the opening cut "Whole Lotta Hurt" which contains the gem line of "Whole lotta hurt/For a little Goodbye." " Summer Night Lovin' " could have been another grievous misstep if not for its downright orgasmic harmonies and killer banjo licks.

This pretty much sums up this inconsistent disc.. if its fast it's better than good.. its exceptional and shows us what an amazing talent Mr. Seals really has. If it's slow, then I'd prefer to go to the dentist to listen to it again. That's why this album gets rated smack down the middle. However if you really ARE one of the people who helped make monster hits of such monotonous annoyances such as "My love" then you will probably give this disc a 5. If you're like the rest of us, you will hope that next time out Brady will keep rockin' and stop moonin'.
