| What's new "Timbaland & Magoo?" Well the boys love the bass,
and the bass loves the boys. "Welcome To Our World" artists "Timbaland
& Magoo" are joined by "Missy 'Misdemeanor' Elliott" and
backups, "Aaliyah," "Playa," "Smokey and Black,"
and Ginuwine. Representing Virginia Beach, Timbaland (producer of hits for Ginuwine and SWV) brings the deep lyrical bump, while Magoo brings the high, sarcastic, satirical thump. The funky duo, who first met in 1988, brings you bass with rhythm and harmony. Yeah, I can "Feel It," the first track, introducing style and pumping a groove that's smooth. A method that feeds the soul and if you have any funk in you, you'll feel it. Tracks such as "Up Jumps da' Boogie," "Fifteen After Da Hour" and "Clock Strikes," are smooth grooves, pop in nature, talkin' bout hittin' the Queens on the hour because at quarter after I gotta go and Missy will tell you so, how to work that black negligee and be a bedroom wrecker. Magoo's unique funky style will tell you he's a nut, all about getting a nut, "Deep In Your Memory" he reaches way down below every woman's belt. "Luv 2 Luv U " is upbeat, and Magoo's slapstick lyrics provide a pumping hardbody groove for hittin' the skinz. "Shauntu Montgomery" and "Playa" are featured on the original and remix respectively. Playa's backup is sexy and sassy, seducing the boys to the beat, wanting to get their hands on the lady's sompum, sompum. I'm smelling " Smoke In Da' Air," hope they got enough for everyone. A pop beat with an R&B flavor, it is a tokin' little track, a party mix to set the mood with harmony, "can I get a p'-puff, wha'?" Timbaland has a kind of style that will make people wild - a tropical funk that'll make you shake your ass. Don't be "Peepin' My Style," a Jamaican flavor, two verses, the first repeats itself. The dynamic duo slows the pace down with "Writin' Rhymes," as they give you "rhyme and reason" rather than "crime and cheesin." It's alright to make a living through rap as long as you're not just blowing wind. The last third of the album is hot. When I say hot, I mean erotic, hard- hitting, smooth talkin', cold struttin', sexy, sassy beats. If "Sex Beats" doesn't at least get you warm, you better get therapy, because Missy's gonna take you home with "Man Undercover." She knows just what she needs, says it four times, "a man undercover, smooth dark strutter." This is my personal favorite as Timbaland throws some dialogue in the backdrop. The rap is smooth and honey sweet. "Timbaland and Magoo" allowed "Ginuwine" to add their flavor, a silky and seductive groove, "Joy." Of course every woman should be pleasured. "Smokey n' Black" pump, "Ginuwine" provides the vibe and "Playa" finishes you up with no leftovers. And finally, the remix of "Up Jumped Da Boogie" has street flavor, with Missy getting down and dirty. No man can resist when a girl gets nasty. "Timbaland and Magoo," with their guests, have a unique brand of funk. Timbaland is laid back, smooth and deep, while Magoo is satirical, funky, and calling Madonna a slut. Both have character and style and they blend well together with a lyrical mix that separates their style of rap from others. "Welcome To Our World" is filled with funk, R&B, pop and the bass is thumpin' throughout. So pump up the boosters when you're cruisin', because the vibe is hot, unique, and soothin.' |
