"Love In Reverse" Update!

ABC-TV'S TURNING POINT PROFILES LOVE IN REVERSE on 2/27/97.
(ACCESSS to the MUSIC ZONE's November Feature Artist).

A quick update on what happened AFTER "Turning Point" aired:
  • "Love In Reverse" received coverage in almost every major newspaper in the country.
  • Between 2/28/97 and 3/3/97, sales of "Love in Reverse's" album, "I Was Here," exceeded 500.
  • In the same time period, sales of their EP, "I Was Dog" went way over 100 copies.
  • "Love In Reverse" received thousands of e-mails about the television show, and their music, from fans between fourteen and eighty-four years old!

Now on to some other update information I received from Mike Ferentino, from when they finished their tour with "Repulica" in December, right up to what's happening now.

After leaving Arizona (where I met them), they continued on to California where Mike came down with laryngitis. Their show in San Francisco had to be cancelled, but they only missed one show. At the next stop they did a totally instrumental show that was so well received they sold a bunch of albums that night. People at that show said it was like a cross between "The Grateful Dead" and "Ministry." Too bad they didn't get a recording of that show!

The tour ended in Canada and LIR returned to New Jersey to take a break through the holidays, then returned to their new twenty-four track digital studio to begin recording their second album, which they are producing and engineering themselves. According to Mike, the new album will be much different - the song writing will stay along the same lines as far as chord changes and dark melodies, but the whole production will be entirely different. What they plan to do on the new album, is kind of a link from their past to their future. When "I Was Dog" and "I Was Here" were released, they were the band's current music - not any older stuff. On the new album approximately 60% of the song writing will be brand new and 40% from older songs that no one's ever heard before. Mike says "It's going to be like an experiment and an album at the same time."

Right now the scheduled release date is July 1, 1997, and by spending twelve hours a day recording, over half the album is finished. I even have a few of the song titles - "Filthiest Person Alive," "Night The Witch Came Home," "Vast Garden" and "North & South." According to Mike, the new album will be very colorful as far as sound goes ". . .hundreds of different types of drum, base and keyboard sounds on this record. We're using about every kind of effects unit you can use depending on where it fits, and we're going to experiment with all of it. There will also be a lot of shifts in mood - from really dancy and punchy, to really, really atmospherical."

At this time, "Love In Reverse" has no plans to have other bands record in their studio, but at some time in the future Mike and Andres would like to produce other bands. For now though, the focus is strictly on making "Love In Reverse" a house-hold name!

    DRAIN S.T.H. Releases Second Single!

The second single from the DRAIN S.T.H. debut album "Horror Wrestling" has hit the radio air waves. The new single is "I Don't Care" - the same song which has already been made into a video. It's in medium rotation in the Phoenix area, along with heavy rotation of "Serve the Shame," but I was unable to reach their P.R. firm to confirm what else is happening. This note will be updated as soon as we have more information.
