"The Spinatras" - sidewalk Sinatras
getting a little too loose for an uptight society? The four city
boys aren't shy about being themselves and having a good time
with it on their new release, where "fun" is the keyword,
and a wink and a smile take a preferred seat to a glare and a
scowl.
Fronted by the "effervescent"
vocal flavor of Brian Corley, the playfully spun, hard-rocking
creation deals with every day issues on the smaller scale, where
not everything's measured in such highly critical terms. Pop-flavored
and oftentimes punkish, there's no deeply hidden messages or
highly contemplative factors at work here, as this is easy listening
to the fullest extent.
"Michelle" takes the lead and
pays homage to an apparent favorite of theirs Michelle Pfeiffer.
"My Back Pages" recalls the famous Dylan phrase and
the reminiscence of youth. The title track features tightly wrapped
chops care of Ross "Once the Boss but now going only by
Friedman," who amidst any and all of the wide-stretching
projects he's been involved with, really steps to the forefront
here, keeping the volume respectable while adding the melodic
touch. Take a spin, get a buzz, and enjoy the ride. You know
you like it! |
