One thing is for sure. Marillion fans should never have to bitch about poor quality live bootleg concert discs, because the band themselves seems more than willing to chronicle every live tour with a well-produced momento that catches the ambiance and energy that is patently Marillion. "Zodiac" is no exception.

Recorded at a weekend fan club gig, "Zodiac" is a pre-Marillion.com show that not only showcases a couple of the new songs, but a couple of new-ER songs that we might not have heard live before. The sound quality on this disc is a steady improvement over the last. The only disappointment from me is that it isn't a two-disc set as the previous live shows have been.

"Zodiac" begins with "Rich," a track from the latest Marillion disc, "Marillion.com". Frontman Steve Hogarth seems taken aback as the audience begins this new and unreleased song before he does, but he quickly realizes that many in the crowd are carry overs from the night before. "Rich" is a high-energy pop tune that does as intended -- gets the crowd primed.

The greatest moments on this CD revolve around the special appearance of Ben Castle on Saxophone. Ben adds his distinctive sound on "Deserve", "Answering Machine" and , most importantly, the incredibly poignant "Berlin" from Marillion's first Hogarth-era album "Season's End." Believe me Marillion fans, "Berlin" is worth the price of this CD!

Other noteworthy tracks are "Cathederal Wall" and "Sugar Mice." "Sugar Mice" is a brilliant Fish-era song which sounds perfectly at home when sung by Hogarth.

The band shines on "Zodiac", another great live performance tha is only available on Marillion's Racket Records site at http://www.marillion.com
