Is it me, or does it seem like these guys have seen one too many
Tony Robbins' late night infomercials? Okay, maybe not, but it's a play on the
title here, and not exactly the sunshine boys are they? Then again, credit where
it's due, for a band to be plugging away thirteen years and still release
records with songs with agile titles like "Asshole,"
"Ruined," "Bullshit Conditions" and "Shut The Fuck
Up!" I'm at once bummed to see things haven't changed a hell of a lot in
the world since Suicidal's "Institutionalized" sliced across the wrist
of the then H/C uprising or when the Cro-Magnon man stalked the stages and
sweaty mosh pits were the latest rouse for disgusted youth; But here we are
about 90% through Toxic Narcotic's latest bomb blast against their latest social
assailant and goddamned if they haven't slowed the fuck down even once yet! I'll
say right off, and this might shock a few out there, but if you were around for
Voi Vod's second "Rrrrrroooaaaarrr" record, like twenty years ago,
you're gonna dig the shit outta this-biggest difference being, here, I was
actually able to make out, albeit faintly, a "get the fuck out of my
way," here, or a "same shit different year" there… and with the
former, there's no way.
"We're All Doomed" is a sour faced, Speed Metal/Noise-core Punk
record that hates everything and makes no apologies, and think about it, these
guys, around since '89, and still making this kinda noise, I mean, the songs'll
make you deaf after a while but talk about integrity! Every word to every song
is laced with venom about someone or something at the root of their bad mood-and
the three of 'em got more than enough to go around. So have a heart for all
those well-intended inhabitants of the fine city of Boston, and lay down your
change and buy enough of TN's records so they can move the hell outta the place!
Yep, it's a crusty UK-sounding Hard-Core rant of a record based out of Boston,
wanting out of Boston, and not even a trace of yer usual bar soaked Beantown bar
buddy sing alongs, so rule right the fuck out any quick comparisons to Dropkick
Murphys or Pinkerton's Thugs or whoever might cross that path.
Same shit different day? How bout, same song, different words? Yeah, that's
about the size of it; "We're All Doomed" ain't out to make new friends
or win over fans with false hope-I'd dare say it's the most lethal sounding
record they've ever done but then that might suggest their earlier stuff, all
self-released, was somehow "soft" compared to this?
Another intensifyingly "extreme" H/C release from the good folks at
Go Kart, who first brought ya The Varukers, then Sick On The Bus, and now this!
"We're All Doomed" is a brutal bitchfest of a record that goes great
with a sore throat, bitter pill, or combat boot to the side of your skin head!
